Max Motta
is a pan-European brand of ice cream. This was the first job I
did for Uli Meyer, and I have been working with him more or less continuously
ever since. The ad was produced at absolutely top speed; I think
I painted some 12 (complicated) backgrounds in about 15 days. This one
was the establishing shot, and it used 3 layers in multiplane. By
the end of the year, we had stopped using cel and paint altogether,
and multiplane shots such as this were composited in software. The
scanner had virtually replaced the rostrum camera. I used the excellent
chroma-keying controls in Satori Film FX to generate this composite.
