This background
was painted out of sequence with the previous image of the doctor's
desk. This may explain why it was painted in gouache. Because
it is nearly impossible to glaze gouache without disturbing underlying
paint, I sprayed a thin coat of acrylic matte medium over the
painting to seal it. Then I was able to use thin acrylic
glazes to deepen the colour of the carpet close to the desk
pedestal. I don't think this shot made it into the final
cut of the film. Such is life.
I painted
a reversed version of my own signature on the blotter pad.
