Picture Details
You have to imagine this one with flurries of snow billowing along the street from behind camera. It's a desolate scene, poignantly emphasising the plight of the people of Nome in the midst of a diphtheria epidemic, cut off from outside help. Their only lifeline is the telegraph, whose wires stretch out toward the dark horizon.
The camera zooms in really slowly towards the warmth of the Telegraph Office.
