Satori has to be the package of choice
for any one who is serious about painting for the big screen. It
works in 64 bit colour which means no banding, ever. It
works in real time, is resolution independent, and every
single brushstroke is editable.
Satori was the package that convinced
me that there would be a big advantage to moving my work from
traditional media over to computer, in 1998. I duly spent
a lot of time, energy and money building myself the perfect workstation
to run Satori
Briefly, Satori is an object-based painting and effects package
for film, video, print and the web, that allows the user to build
up and composite images in layers. Every part of the image
can be changed at any time, which is fantastic when dealing with
picky clients.
The image can be output at whatever resolution
you like, web-sized or Vistavision, and it's fast, fast, fast. Layers
are the true workspace of Satori. If your client wants the
clouds in your painting to be nudged over to the right a tad:
Fine You want to re-use them in another scene: Easy. Just
copy them to another canvas. Flip them if you want.
Satori allows you to open HUGE files instantly. It
even has a preset for IMAX, for goodness sake.
Check out the Satori web site
for all the latest information on this great package. I've
been a beta-tester for Satori almost since I started using it.
You'll find some tutorials
