The next stage of the Mil-Looney-Um Party 2000 project (snappy title, that) was to produce a colour rough on paper for client approval. The client approved. Before painting this (or any other background painting, for that matter), I always start by producing a quick tonal study that shows the lighting in the scene. A tonal saves a lot of decision time during the actual painting process. Scroll down for the Tonal.
