Part Two. Page 3 of 5
Step Six: Copy the Layer
In the Actions Palette, click the Layer button, and choose the Operations tab where you will find the button called "Copy Layer". Go on, press it.
This should be the result of the Copy Layer action
Now rename the layers: "Body" and "Drop Shadow".
Make the Drop Shadow layer active by clicking in its thumbnail on the Layer List Palette, as above. Now select the body of the letter using either the Edit Toolbar or finding it in the Object List. Change the fill colour of the object to pure black.
Paint it Black.
Step Seven: Offset the objects in the lower layer.
Now turn the Grid Snap back on, because you are going to offset the black drop shadow by a precise percentage.
Select the black drop shadow (hidden by the yellow "A" for the moment), and move it South by one cell and East by one cell. (Okay, one down and one right.)
The black drop shadow emerges from behind the yellow A, and snaps into place.

Now turn off the layer that contains the yellow "A", and you will see that the counter for the black drop shadow is out of place.
The counter needs to be moved, too
So select the counter, and move it by the same amount as the black drop shadow object.
Like so...

If the grid snap tool prevents you lining up the counter properly, turn it off!
You might ask: "Why not just move the whole layer?" One answer might be that if you later export the Satori canvas into Photoshop (Using the Paint FX plug-in), any layer moves made in Satori are disregarded in Photoshop.
Here's what your letter should look like at the end of Step Seven.
It's looking pretty slick, but there's a little way to go before it is finished.
