Step Nine: The Inline Ornament

The last step in creating this "Looney Tunes" style letterform is to apply a graphic lighting effect to the face.
Start by mixing a deep orange in the Colour Palette,
Mix a colour
Choose the Connected Lines tool

Back to TOP
Set the Outline Width to 12...
...and in the Style box, choose Airbrush as the Edit Parameter.

Turn the Grid Snap OFF, and click your way round inside the letter, to give a false 3D shadow.
Pretend that the light is coming from the top left.

Stop there for a moment, and render the connected line.
Back to TOP

It should look something like this.
Keep the new line away from the edge by the same distance all along its length.
Nearly There...
 
Put in the last two inline "shadows", and you're done.
Congratulations !! You have just finished creating a decorated, drop shadow letterform.
This letter uses only straight construction lines, and contains a counter. (In the Introduction, I called this a "Class 4" letter.)
The next letter we're going to deal with will involve curved construction lines, as well as a counter. (I called this type a "Class 3" in the Introduction.)
Now move on to Part 3, but go and make a cup of coffee first.
