This grim cityscape was
painted entirely in Satori FilmFX. It's from a project that's still
in development at Uli Meyer Animation, in conjunction with Red Balloo
Productions.
I made a lot of use of
the Copy Edit button in Satori for this picture. This feature allowed
me to create the basic fill of an object, textured or otherwise, and
then create an automatic outline of the object using a chalk style
brush. This gives a kind of granular, cartoony feel to the painting.
The image above is a close-up of about one third of the whole panning
background. Because it was created entirely in Satori, it can be rendered
out at any resolution, from web sized to IMAX. And NO pixels, OR banding
of colours. (Thanks to 64 bit colour)
